You were wrong to think that just because you have Yoongi now your problems are solved. You should've known that with his company awkwardness and embarrassing moments will follow you soon enough. He is not the one to talk about certain things plus you guys are not that close, at least not yet. At least he was recovering from those fatal injuries. Isn't that a good thing? Still, you wish for him to be less harsh with his words sometimes. Sure, he was grateful that you saved him. He thanked you countless times but that wasn't what you were looking for. You were looking for a friend who will tell you it will be fine other than someone stating the obvious reality all the time. We all know being straightforward is good, but sometimes to survive through reality we need to get the strength from hope. Even if it is fake.
Yoongi thought otherwise. He thought it will be better if he stays away from you. That's why his replies always came out harsher than expected. He was stressed and scared as well and, indeed, he is not good with emotions and all that. But somehow he always ends up disappointing you and that bothers him to no end. He is scared deep down that you might leave him alone like the others. Sure the quiet one also have an afraid heart deep down. What he doesn't know is overthrowing just makes him more distant and colder than he is.
"Yoongi, can't you talk to me for a bit?" One day you asked him and guess what? He answered with an "I'm talking to you. What else do you want?"
Yeah, definitely a mind-blowing conversation.
Then the other day when you were cleaning your weapons he suddenly came up behind you. You stumbled and almost fell but his arms wrapped around your waist securely and held you in place. He was too close and the way he smirked made you feel lightheaded.
You should've known embarrassment won't leave you alone for days.
But today is different. You are really upset with him this time. You are used to his harsh way of talking but it went too far today.
"(Y/N), for God's sake leave me alone. Why do you always want me to talk?"
"Yoongi, please, I care about you. You have a lot to say but you are bottling up your feelings for days now."
" Whatever happens to me is none of your concern."
"But it concerns me! Yoongi, it's unhealthy to hold back this much!!"
"Just stop already!! Why can't you understand that I have nothing to do with you? Just because you saved me don't think you can boss me around like this. You saved me and I'm grateful for that but don't you think you are taking it a bit far? I don't want to negotiate with you and if you are that annoyed then just tell me I'll leave but don't you dare think that you can treat me like a fragile doll."
"...That's what you think...? Fine... I have nothing to say then..."
There was a deep silence. Your throat felt dry and your eyes were stinging. Unknowingly a tear escaped and cascaded down your cheek. He noticed because his eyes widened when the situation was actually sinking in.
" (Y/N)..." He tried to reach out to you but you took a step back.
"I thought of you as a friend Yoongi... That's all you need to know..." With that, you left leaving a speechless Yoongi behind.
You always had a favourite spot since childhood. The place was huge. Children used to play there all day when the world wasn't crumbling down to pieces because of a stupid virus. You were sitting beside the big fountain with a tear-stained face. Even you didn't know that you were capable of crying this much. Maybe you are overreacting but just when you thought you have a friend he proved that it's not the case at all. At this point, you are ready to rant to the ground heck even a zombie.
Yoongi was no better than you. He felt really bad when you left. He couldn't believe that he was the reason behind your tears. He knew you cared. You are the only one who made some effort to understand and befriend him. The moment you left he chased after you but you were fast. He can't forgive himself if something happens to you because of him.
You were done sulking after an hour or two. "For heaven's sake (Y/N) you are an adult. You shouldn't cry over stupid things!!" You scolded yourself and forced your legs to move. It's never good to stay out in the dark when zombies are roaming around. So with a heavy heart, you walked back to your hideout. Only if you knew what was waiting for you. The moment you stepped in you were engulfed in a bone-breaking hug
"Oh my God (Y/N) I'm so glad that you are okay! I'm so sorry! Please forgive me... I-I- didn't mean what I said! I know you care. You are the nicest person I saw! I didn't mean to hurt you I swear!! I'm sorry, so so sorry..."
He was rambling but it made you happy that he knows you care and from the looks of it he cares about you more than you can imagine. You will happily accept his apology if he just stops squeezing you this hard!
"Y-Yoongi! You are c-choking me!!"
"I'm sorry!!"
He immediately let you go. His flustered expression made you want to squeeze his cheeks and coo at him for being so cute. But you needed to make something clear.
"Apology accepted! But dude you have to promise me something and that is you won't talk about leaving and please let me squeeze your cheeks."
"Oka— wait what?!" His eyes widened comically "Why do you want to squeeze my cheeks?!"
"Because you are so cute!"
"No, I'm not!! What the hell woman?!"
The rest of the night you bickered with him. He can be hilarious at times!! He makes jokes with a straight face and that makes the situation even funnier. See? Just a little effort can change everything! That's what you were trying to say. Yoongi won't accept defeat but you won't give up either!! Yeah, indeed, you won't become a best friend overnight but as long as Yoongi is willing to open up everything will be fine. Your first glance told you he is a fine man. Hopefully, one-day Yoongi opens up. For now, you can wait and enjoy the rest of the night with him.
